I am just getting this site setup, so be patient with me as all links and tabs will not be working for the first little while as I am still trying to figure everything out.
Because of spammers and people who have nothing better to do but to make your life miserable, I am requesting that you registered to view my trees and make comments. It doesn't take but just a second to register and as soon as I get the email that you registered I go in and sign off on it. So please register if you are interested in looking at what I have here on my site. Thanks!!!!
Just to tell you a little about myself, my name is Vickie and I was born and raised in Kentucky. The majority of my ancestors have been in Kentucky since the 1790’s. I have always loved history, a good mystery and puzzles and that is what Family History Research is all about.
As a child we would take day trips on Saturdays and head down some dirt road looking for old cemeteries. A lot of the time we weren't looking for anyone in particular, we just like to read the epitaphs. We would have a picnic lunch packed and have lunch at whatever cemetery we were at. If the weather was bad my Dad and I would go to a courthouse and dig through old records in musty old basements looking for our ancestors.
So as you can see I have had an interest in Family History for quite some time.
The pictures here on the home page are of some of my family.
On the top is my Daddy with some of his brothers, Don & Jack Beard & their half-brother, William Teague holding his daughter Kathy, as well as my grandpa, Aubrey Beard.
The other picture is of my 3rd great-grandparents on my Mom's side, James McDaniel & his wife, Elizabeth Susan Treadway. The picture was taken in the late 1870's in Richmond, Missouri before they moved to Kentucky. James died in 1881 in Caldwell County, Kentucky and Elizabeth died in 1908 in Crittenden County, Kentucky.
In the top left corner you can click on Roy's side or Vickie's side to see mine and my husbands family trees.
Just to the right of this section you will see a search button, but it will only search my tree. However, if you click on advanced search, you will be able to pick what tree you would like to search through. For instances, if you want to search through my tree, then click on the drop down arrow and a list of all the trees I have on here will pop up. Click on The Ancestors of Vickie Beard Thompson and then you will be searching only in my tree. If you want to search through another tree just do the same thing, or you can just click on search 'All Trees' and look through all of them at once.
Another fun part of this site is the Calendar here on the left. Click on Calendar and you will see all the births, deaths & anniversaries for people in which ever tree you select for any given month. Give it a try I think it is a pretty cool feature.
